I recently had the privilege of doing an engagement session for Amanda and Reed. They chose to have a destination engagement session at the beautiful Point Lobos State Natural Reserve in Carmel, California.
Point Lobos
Point Lobos is known for the variety of wildlife who make their home there including seabirds, sea otters, sea lions, seals, and gray whales. It is a popular SCUBA diving destination.
Other activities popular at this “crown jewel of the state parks system” include biking, hiking, and the thing we were there to do: photography. The rocky cliffs and the ocean backdrop make for a majestic shooting location. If you are looking for sweeping vistas that inspire awe, check out Point Lobos.
Film Photography
We went classic on this destination engagement session and used actual film photography. No matter how advanced digital technology advances, there is something nostalgic and timeless about using real film. With film, you have to make sure each shot is brilliant as it’s taken. Unlike with digital, you don’t have unlimited do-overs. You have to bring your artistic eye out make each click of the shutter count. Film also offers a higher dynamic range and captures details in a way that digital just compare with. I really enjoy working with this medium and had a great time doing this shoot.
Destination Wedding
Keeping with the destination theme, Amanda and Reed are planning a destination wedding as well. They are coming to Arizona for the wedding of their dreams. As someone very familiar with the amazing Arizona terrain, I am super excited for them. In my opinion, some of the most beautiful destination wedding locations in the world are in Arizona.
